New year, new sewing space! 🎉 In this video, I give my sewing space a complete overhaul makeover using the 5S principles of workplace organization: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.
Follow along as I declutter, reorganize, and transform my workspace into a functional and inspiring area to kick off the year with creativity and purpose. This isn’t just about tidying up—it’s about setting up a system that works long-term.
The 5S method originated in Japan as part of the Toyota Production System, a philosophy of workplace efficiency and lean manufacturing. The term "5S" represents five Japanese words—Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in Order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu (Standardize), and Shitsuke (Sustain)—each focusing on creating a clean, organized, and efficient workspace. It was developed to eliminate waste, improve productivity, and promote a culture of continuous improvement, and has since been adopted globally across various industries and even in personal projects like home organization!
If you’re looking for inspiration to organize your sewing or craft space for the new year, this video is for you!
