In this video, I give a broad-level outline of how to start with Shadow Work for complete beginners.
I first give a broad level explanation of what the Shadow is and how it functions. I also clear up some misconceptions about the Shadow.
I also talk about the reasons why we engage in repression and fragment our consciousness. There are four main reasons... preserving the ego/identity, preserving a worldview, coping with trauma, and coping with unmet needs.
Then I share some benefits of Shadow Work... both linear and non-linear.
This video also has tips on how to safely engage in the Shadow Integration process and how to maintain stability and grounding as you work to become more conscious of your inner world.
And at the end of the video, I provide a couple simple Shadow Work exercises for beginning with your Inner Work Journey.
Note: The Shadow is a terms that was coined by Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung to describe all the parts of ourselves that we've repressed and become unconscious to. And the integration of the Shadow is one of the main focuses of Jungian Psychology.
