On August 7, 2021, Vikramjit Singh, commonly known as Vicky Middukhera, a leader of the Youth Akali Dal, was assassinated by three shooters: Sajjan, also known as Bholu, Anil Lath, and Ajay, who is also referred to as Sunny or Lefty. Other individuals implicated in the case included Kaushal Chaudhary, Amit Dagar, and Bhupinder Singh, known as Bhupi Rana. Ajaypal Middukhera, Vicky's brother, acted as the complainant in this case. Sajjan Bholu, Anil Lath, and Ajay (Sunny/Lefty) were convicted for Vicky Middukhera's murder and received life sentences, while Amit Dagar, Kaushal Chaudhary, and Bhupinder Singh were acquitted due to a lack of evidence connecting them to the criminal conspiracy.

It indicates that Shaganpreet Singh, who was once a close associate of singer Sidhu Moosewala, made a call to gangster Gaurav Patial, also known as Lucky Patial. During the call, Lucky Patial instructed Anil Lath to shoot Vicky Middukhera. Notably, Shaganpreet fled to Australia after Vicky's murder and remains elusive from Indian authorities to this day.
