Lisa didn't realize her relationship was abusive at first, she thought her husbands attempts to control her were normal. But as the relationship went on the abuse compounded. She took her 4 kids to a shelter but could not find help with housing and the courts would not uphold a restraining order against her husband so she returned home for another 7 years. Then she put herself through school, got her nursing degree, and is now living on her own with her 4 children safe, and free from their abuser.
