Shiv Charan Mathur was the successor of Jagannath Pahadiya. He became CM in the year 1981. In the last of his first tenure, Raja Mansingh, MLA of Deeg was encountered after he attacked Mathur's helicopter. Shiv Charan Mathur had to resign from the position of Chief Minister after this incident. The second time Shiv Charan Mathur became CM when Harideo Joshi resigned from his position. He included Ashok Gehlot in his cabinet even he was not an MLA. He resigned in 1989 after Congress lost all 25 seats in the Loksabha elections. Later, Shiv Charan Mathur became the governor of Assam in 2009 and passed away in the same year.
