Shopping for Antiques in Iowa's Antique Capital - Walnut - including Granary Antiques Mall and more!

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Trusty hit the road again and made a stop in Iowa's self proclaimed "Antiques Capital" - Walnut. Doing some further research, their website (www.iowasantiquecity) only claims they are "Iowa's Antiques City" - which seems a safer statement. While on a per capita basis, it may have a pretty high ranking with over a dozen stores on one little main drag, on a Sunday in December, many of the shops were closed, so Trusty didn't get the full effect. But one of the highlights was Granary Antiques Mall (603 Pearl Street, Walnut, Iowa 51577 - 712-784-3331) Two levels chock full of true antiques ranging from industrial decor to furniture to porcelain with fair prices - and even some low prices allowing Trusty to pick up items for resale. Their variety ranks it as one of the most impressive antique malls Trusty visited throughout the midwest. Although not shown on video, other shops which were kind to Trusty included Second Hand Comics (which had a small vintage good shop in the front with some very good prices - and a fiberglass chip and dip set he regrets leaving behind!), Mabel's Old Fashioned Rose (where the ephemera came from) and a new shop which is a second location of the booth of crocks shown at Granary which included the more valuable 19th century decorated stoneware which Trusty struggled to resist. High quality antiques mixed in. And a cute dog!
