This place came recommended, so we took the scenic drive to Logan, Utah and are visiting Country Village Antique Mall for the first time! But will we find good old stuff in a college town that's booming with new arrivals?
Right away, the answer is yes! There's antiques, vintage and old-school merchandise on sale before we even get in the door, with a fine old wood stove range and a giant floor scale at 50% off. We can't fit those in the van (nor the really cool brass/glass 1970s table set that's bargain priced), but there's more fun stuff at good prices for me to take to my collectors elsewhere...a painted Camark vase, a scarce Fenton painted bell of Mt. Rushmore, a cool 1950s Ice-O-Mat (it really works well) and a lovely 1890s Victorian coralene flower frog are all a definite yes as our pile grows at the counter.
There's a lot of fun things to see and learn about in this mall as well. Who was Billy Seay, and how cool are those birds he painted? Why do we call that thing on the back of the car a trunk? How did that woman ahead of us grab that great buy on the 1930s tapestry before we got to it? These and many other questions are answered as we explore everything from Chinese brass bells to Treasure Craft's 101 Dalmatians cookie jar (created by a refugee from China).
We leave with a bag of fun items, an eyeful of cool antiques and vintage, and a new place to put on our route as we meander through the mountain states on our journeys!
