For our question of the week this week, we are going to take a look at the differences between going with a stock location turbo and a rotated turbo for your WRX or STI.
The initial inspiration for a rotated turbo setup was the want or need to run something like a Garrett Turbo that used completely different flanges compared to the turbo that came on your car. That, and the fact that many of these turbo's were also a good deal larger than the stock turbo, required that you make a custom up-pipe and down-pipe and then rotate the turbo to make room for the new turbo.
For a while, the only option was to go with a rotated setup to run these turbo's, but in the last few years, companies like Blouch Turbo, Turbo Dynamics, and ATP Turbos have found ways to make or machine the hot and cold sides of the turbo to actually put these larger turbo's in the stock location for your WRX or STI.
So the question is, if you have both options, which one is going to be best for you? The stock location? Or to go with the custom piping needed to rotate the turbo?
Hopefully this video gives you some useful information to make that choice.
Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!
