EP 49: Found an old friend in the storage unit As the planes are one by one moving out of storage and finding a permanent place in the shop, I came across an old friend that kind of got forgotten. Well not forgotten I guess, but left to sit in storage for too long of a time. The Sig Spacewalker II was my very first giant scale (IMAA requirements) first gasolene engine and first three piece wing. In some ways I felt like I pushed the limits on it by putting a Zenoah G-38, which is way too much power, and used 21st Century film for the covering, and had to add lead to the tail, and move the batteries back to make it balance, but she is a good flier. But due to the small shops I have had over the years, I didn’t have room to store her and maintain her, and at the same time I was moving up and building big warbirds. So it was easier to let her sit. I think it’s time to get her out and put her in the air again. 20 years have gone by. So today I will start going through the Spacewalker and make it airworthy again.
