I share an in depth tutorial of how I make a silver fumed honeycomb marble. I left every step in real time so you can follow along and get a feel for how long each step takes. I did work methodically and took my time to really share every step. This technique can be done faster but speed comes after repetition. Practicing this technique will build a variety of skills and can be applied to more than just making marbles. I fumed .999 silver into a 32x4mm Simax blank. I use silver from the Canadian Mint and place it on the end of a quartz rod to hold it in the flame. Silver is repeatedly vaporized in a neutral flame then burnt off with and oxidizing flame. Careful attention to no exposing the silver to a reducing flame is important to preserving the colour. Onec the pattern is made the process of making a perfectly round marble starts. Heat and gravity are used in the beginning until the glass starts to make a sphere then a graphite marble mold is used to finish the shape. Lastly the marble goes into the kiln to relieve stress and control the cooling process. I explain a little bit about running an annealing cycle.
