This was a guided trip that we took at the end of the 2022/23 season. Over around 10 days we skied freeride and also backcountry around the Gudauri Resort in Georgia. We flew in to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia and spent a few days siteseeing before the ski trip started.
We always work with local guides on ski trips abroad from Japan. This trip we worked together with Tite Medzmariashvili who is a local Georgian IFMGA guide who helped us put together a great itinerary for the group. We felt very safe with his guiding. For any trips in Georgia both summer and winter in the mountains I highly recommend Tite; https://peakgeorgia.ge/
In town we had a guide called Gagi who is a friend of Tite. He used to be a history teacher at the Tbilisi University and was a wealth of knowledge and gave us fantastic insights into the culture and history of both Tbilisi and Georgia.
You will find Georgia to be a very exotic destination for a ski trip. Fantastic wine and food, good hospitality, a country rich in history and of course great mountains.
