Being a Swiss recreational gold prospector I set out in California to search for the precious metal and explore the history of the Gold Rush. My compatriot John Sutter has captivated me—as you can easily see. The small gold nugget found on his land in 1848 had a significant impact. It stands as a symbol for events we commonly refer to as fate: the universal give and take. But is it really that? Together, we journey through the landscape and history of California, prospecting for gold in various rivers and speaking with gold miners at the Downieville Gold Rush Days about the latest trends.
