Up in the desert of Coahuila Northern Mexico lies Parras De La Fuente, a town home to the oldest winery in all the Americas!
We spent a few days exploring this small Northern Mexican town and it was unreal.
First things first we climbed up to the church for a view over Parras and the incredible desert mountains around us. After a quick rain shower we had a walk through Parras and got ourselves some good old nieves. Parras is just your classic Northern Mexican small town.
Next morning we headed out for some gorditas, a Northern Mexican classic. They were bloody fantastic and came with a fiery habanero salsa which hit the spot.
We then wandered around town and found a butcher making fresh chicharron in a huge copper pot, this stuff was delicious.
Now Parras is also known for making sweets so we jumped into a taxi to a third generation family run sweetshop on the edge of town. Here we tried pretty much one of everything and I've gotta say they were incredible.
We jumped on the party bus back into Parras and went for a swim all afternoon in the beautiful springwater fed pool with views of the church and mountains around us, lovely.
So like I said Parras here in Coahuila is known for being home to the first winery in all the Americas so we found ourselves a little wine bar and tried a white and a red. In all honesty the red wine was one of the best we've ever drank, absolute class.
Small town Northern Mexico is the one! 🇲🇽
