Victor Grossman defected to the Soviet occupation zone of Austria in 1952, and was moved around in East Germany for a time before being settled in the International House of Solidarity in Bautzen - not far from the Czech-Polish border area. I interviewed him about his beliefs and time in East Germany, but in this specific interview I was mostly questioning him about the fates of other defectors whose later life is mostly unknown.
Some of them did pass away naturally, some returned to America anonymously, others vanished without a trace.
