As the Pacific Northwest was slowly awakening from its winter slumber, I was day dreaming about riding in Arizona. So I decided to book a trip to Arizona and ride the short version of 2023 Pinyons and Pines route. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42021852
I’m not part of the race, and I won’t be going at racing speed… I did my ride on May 7th - 12th, just a week before the race. And despite doing this in six days, it still totally worked me! I was able to complete the short version as it was mapped out on ridewithgps, though for the race, I think weather and blowdowns caused some last minute rerouting.
Overall, I had an amazing time and am proud of myself for completing the route! I experienced hot a and cold, smooth and chunky, hard and easy, a lot of contrast which is something I love on an adventure!
