Hey everyone! Here the next episode of Soloing Secrets with this look at the legendary late-great blues rock pioneer Johnny Winter. I've featured Johnny once before in a Three-For-All lesson a few years ago, but this time we're taking a deep-dive into a number of Johnny's essential licks, phrases, playing habits, and more - so let's dive in! The licks/ideas shared in this lesson were pulled from two classic Johnny Winter albums, including his classic Second Winter release along with Johnny Winter And - his first album featured a young Rick Derringer,. Rick also worked alongside Johnny's brother Edgar in the Edgar Winter Group, and collaborated between the Winter brothers frequently from 1970-1976. The ideas shred in this lesson came from songs such as Guess I'll Go Away, Let The Music Play, and Memory Pain, to name a few. This includes standard Johnny Winter signature licks/phrases featuring plenty of his expressive bending licks, crammed pentatonic-based phrases, various melodic ideas, and much more! Needless to say, if you're a Johnny Winter fan, a fan of blues rock guitar playing, a player looking for some authentic blues rock licks to add to their bag of tricks, or maybe you're just curious what all the fuss is about - this lesson is totally for you!
