The weight on the left and right sides must be the same. If you add or subtract a weight from one side, you must do the same on the other side to keep it balanced. To solve an equation for x, means to get x alone on one side of the equation. To solve an equation, we use the idea of opposites. A solution of an Algebraic Equation is a number that makes the sentence true.
