Something a little different: Tuning Pegs

This video shows how I made some tuning pegs for ukeleles. It was interesting trying to figure out how to make the pegs reasonably efficiently and gave me some welcome practice with the skew chisel. This sort of thing would be impossible to do if I were relying on income from woodturning to put food on my table, but as a hobby turner I don't necessarily have to only do things that make economic sense. :D When I was in full swing I was able to crank out about 2 dozen pegs in a 3 hour turning session, so the full 100+ pegs probably took about 13 hours of lathe time plus the time to mill the stock and cut the blanks, which would add another 5 or 6 hours. At any sort of realistic shop rate that would make the finished pegs exorbitantly expensive. Good thing I'm not a pro! :D
