Marmoucha Orchestra and Mehdi Nassouli Unveil “Sonic Bridges” at Jazzahead 2024: A New Era in Jazz and Gnawa Exploration. In an exciting musical venture, Marmoucha Orchestra and the celebrated Gnawa musician Mehdi Nassouli are set to showcase their latest project, “Sonic Bridges” at Jazzahead 2024. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the fusion of Jazz and Gnawa music, creating a sound that is both innovative and deeply rooted in tradition. “Sonic Bridges” represents an artistic synergy between the Marmoucha Orchestra and Gnawa musician Mehdi Nassouli. In their musical partnership, they have engaged in various projects, including Modes of Magamat (2020), the Quarantine Sessions (2021), the innovative online Simurgh project (2021), the groundbreaking album Sahara Koyo (2022), and the prestigious Urban Voices project in Nantes (2023). This collaboration has created a new and unique sound crafted by Marmoucha Orchestra’s arrangers, skilled musicians, and Mehdi Nassouli. During this collaboration, there has been a meaningful exchange of knowledge and understanding between both sides. Now, they’re moving into the next phase-a distinctive sound born from this unique partnership.
