I discovered a Sonic fan project that seems to be a mix between Trackmania and Sonic R. The former is all about traversing through complex tracks as fast as possible, and Sonic R was a unique but flawed take on the racing genre. Revert has some fun movement and physics, and the low poly character models are pretty neat. But it definitely needs more maps added and some further refinement towards the low poly artstyle. Other than that though, it's a great game that you can get completely free, and is even more fun if you can organize a race with other people.
Also, I tried getting into the multiplayer but didn't have any success at the time of my playthrough. The game glitched out during an ongoing race while spectating and I couldn't leave the game, and I couldn't find any more players afterwards. This is one of those games where you'll have to go out of your way to get people together to do online races most of the time, because not many people play it at all.
Those that are having controller issues, trying adding the game as a non-steam game, your controller inputs should override the games default inputs with what you have on steam. It's how I was able to use my Switch Pro Controller on it.
