Welcome to Part 2 of the Sony TC-K777 restoration journey! This legendary deck continues to challenge me with multiple transport, electronic, and hum noise issues. However, progress has been made, and playback is now in perfect condition.
🔧 What’s Fixed So Far:
Playback Restored: The tape is now running straight, and the heads/tape path are fully tuned. All high frequencies and levels are exactly where they should be.
Recording Tuning: Initially, the recording was off and imbalanced between the two channels, but I successfully recalibrated it.
⚠️ Remaining Challenge:
Persistent Hum Noise in Recording: Despite fixing the transport and electronics, a noticeable hum remains during recording, preventing me from calling this restoration complete.
🎶 What’s Next?
Part 3 Incoming: I’ll be diving deep into the hum issue to uncover its root cause and apply a fix. Stay tuned!
