Sound Devices MixPre-3: To Infinity And Beyond! Since When Does 32-Bit Float Capture Decibels?

Am I right? Am I wrong? 32-bit Float does NOT eliminate clipping or the need to set analog pre-amp gain. How can a company like Sound Devices spread such engineering malarky in their technical documents?
