Welcome to the train room at Wayne Floyd's home in Alameda, CA. Wayne needed something to do when he retired, so he built a railroad based on all the trains he was around when he was growing up.
The mainline represents Southern Pacific in a fictitious place along the coast of California, complete with produce, oil, and other industries.
The short line represents an abbreviated version of the Sierra Railroad that ran from Oakdale to the Sonora area.
The logging branch is loosely based on the Pickering Lumber company's railroad, complete with a Shay locomotive.
Wayne's approach to model railroading includes the use of technology to run two of his lines without human operators. Find out how in this layout tour video.
