കാട്‌ വെച്ചാല്‍ പാമ്പു വരുമോ എന്ന പേടി മിക്കയാളുകള്‍ക്കുമുണ്ട്‌. ഇടതൂര്‍ന്നു വളരുന്ന കാട്ടില്‍ മണ്ണിലേക്ക്‌ സൂര്യപ്രകാശം വീഴാന്‍ സാധ്യത കുറവാണ്‌. അങ്ങനെയുളളിടത്ത്‌ അടിക്കാട്‌ വളരുകയില്ല. വളരെ വേഗം മരങ്ങള്‍ക്കു വളര്‍ച്ചയെത്തുന്ന മിയാവാക്കി കാട്ടിലും അടിക്കാട്‌ ഉണ്ടാവില്ല. തെളിഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്ന ഇടത്ത്‌ പാമ്പ്‌ വന്നാലും നമുക്ക്‌ കാണാനാകും. അതുപോലെ മിയാവാക്കി കാട്‌ വേലി കെട്ടിത്തിരിച്ച്‌ വളര്‍ത്തുകയും വേലിക്കു പുറത്തുളള സ്ഥലം വൃത്തിയാക്കി ഇടുകയും ചെയ്‌താല്‍ പാമ്പിനെ പേടിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല.
In this episode, M. R. Hari tries to remove the common fear that setting up a Miyawaki forest
is like extending an invitation to snakes. He explains the vast difference between the wild
growth in abandoned plots and the meagre undergrowth of forests in order to emphasize
that Miyawaki forests, if properly put up and maintained, carry no such threats. The many
forests around his own house at Puliyarakonam are enough to prove that if the area
surrounding the Miyawaki forest as well as the pathways in it are kept litter-free, there is no
chance of snakes appearing at all.
