I found a really nice way to set speaker distances using REW, which gives you perfect time arrival of sound. This uses an IR start time method. This doesn't use the typical impulse peak method. I think having audio arrive at the correct time is more important that being perfectly phase aligned at specific points in the frequency band. Because you can never be perfect everywhere. Again, this is why I think that when sounds arrive at the same time, it sounds better.
