Spectrum's short video using “F-L-Y” as background music is creating a huge buzz in the U.S. and other countries. The single released in 1980 has become a worldwide boom beyond 45 years.
Spectrum, led by leader Ichiro Nitta, was one of the first groups to introduce the black music style to Japan, drawing on influences such as soul, funk, and brass rock from overseas.
The group's magnificent and powerful brass sound, backed by advanced performance techniques, and the distinctive vocals of Nitta, bassist Naoki Watanabe, and guitarist Shinji Nishi, create a profound sound world that continues to captivate audiences today.
The band is also highly acclaimed as a highly entertaining band that emphasizes visual elements through its dance - live performances while playing instruments in flashy armor costumes and active media appearances.
Their representative songs are “IN THE SPACE,” “F-L-Y,” “Tomato Ippatsu,” and “Act-Show,” all of which demonstrate the band's appeal as a brass rock band. In Japan, “SUNRISE,” known as the entrance song of professional wrestler Stan Hansen, is another popular song.

SPECTRUM, led by leader Ichiro Nitta, was the first group to introduce to Japan a style of black music with distinctive falsetto vocals and 16-bit rhythms influenced by foreign soul, funk, and brass rock. This one-of-a-kind brass band released six singles and six albums in the two years between their debut in 1979 and their breakup in 1981.
スペクトラムは、リーダー新田一郎が中心となり、海外のソウル、ファンク、ブラスロックなどの影響を受けながら、独特のファルセット(裏声)中心のヴォーカル、16ビートのリズムなど、ブラック・ミュージックのスタイルを日本にいち早く導入したグループ。1979年にデビューしてから、1981年の解散までの2年間で、シングル6枚、アルバム6枚を残した唯一無比のブラス・ロック・バンド。
