The city of Nara is considering the removal of the sacred, so-called "bowing deer" from Nara Deer Park.
Nara Deer Park is renowned for its friendly deer that roam freely. Each year, the park attracts approximately 13 million tourists, with each visitor spending an average of $25.
Local farmers in the surrounding areas experience a modest crop loss totalling only $600 annually across the entire city of Nara. Despite this, they are advocating for the removal of deer that wander into their farms.
There are many viable alternatives, such as installing protective nets or fences, yet they prefer more drastic measures.
This approach is simply not acceptable. Please help us put a stop to this extreme solution!
