FrontierScientists.com –Spurr is an active volcano near Anchorage, Alaska. Cook Inlet volcanoes are a potential threat to air traffic in and around Anchorage, Alaska. The Alaska Volcano Observatory monitors the volcanoes of Alaska and alert air traffic control and the public if an eruption is about to occur. The AVO evaluates the danger of an occurring eruption. Alaska’s Cook Inlet Volcanoes, part of the Pacific ‘Ring of Fire’, are beautiful scenic backdrops as well as active natural hazards. The USGS – Alaska Volcano Observatory is tasked with monitoring their volcanic activity and giving warning of eruptive activity.
