Nripen and his elder brother and their wives live together. Nripen and his wife are selfish, but his brother and his wife are good and noble poeple. They are charitable and donate wealth to the poor villagers who regard and respect them. One day a telegram comes saying that Katta's wife's father is ill. They go to see her father by boat. On the way, the boat drown in the river Padma and they die. Ramala, Nripens wife tortures Katta's daughter Gita . One day she finds a deaf and dumb groom for Gita. Gita goes to Calcutta. When she reaches the station she gets into Sriman 420's taxi. He is a good person and gives her shelter. In the meantime Nripen , his wife , daughter, Mita and her husband (Dipak) came to Calcutta.Sriman 420 falls in love with Gita. One day Nripen sees Gita and he and Ramola file a complaint in the police station. The police sends Sriman 420 to jail. His case is fought by a Barrister(Biplab Chatterjee), who is actually his father, but neither of them know it at the beginning. In the mantime Manju, the nurse comes to the court and confesses that Nripen and his wife killed his brother and his wife. Nripen and Ramola are sent to jail. Finally Biplab, Sriman 420 and Gita live happily.
