Improve your stage presence and avoid these mistakes during your next singing performance. When you avoid these common stage performance mistakes, you'll be able to give a much more entertaining and professional looking performance.
Mistake #1: Not talking to the audience
Acknowledge the audience. Say thank you when they give you applause. Ask them how they're doing. Don't be afraid to talk to them if the situation allows. Your job is to connect with the audience.
Mistake #2: Not using your space...
Move around. Dance. Walk to different parts of the stage. Don't stand still in one place for the entire performance. The audience will get bored if you do.
Mistake #3: Wearing sunglasses...
When you wear sunglasses on stage, you block any expression or emotion that your eyes could give to the audience. It's like wearing a mask. If you wear sunglasses so no one can see that you're closing your eyes because you're afraid, take them off! The audience can tell that you've got your eyes closed, anyway. Learn to be comfortable on stage without using sunglasses as a crutch.
