With modern locomotives railroads run MASSIVE, LONG, HEAVY trains, the can stall tackling stiff grades from time to time. When this happens, manned helpers are sent out to save the day, and help shove the train up the hill! Its always neat to watch this interesting operation take place.
We'll focus on CPKC in this video, and their Soo Saint Paul Sub. Things begin back in 2019 with a pair of former Soo Line SD60s. After ROARING past the camera, the train stalls not too far away. We'll get a front row view watching the helpers tie on, and get the train moving. The next train is a sand train, and has three EMDs screaming on the rear end. These helpers sounded GREAT. The last train we get to see has the helper cut off before continuing on its way again. Lots to see and watch!
