Exploration Starships are the bread and butter of Starfleet. It’s basically the whole point of the organisation. So when it comes to designing a new exploration ship, it will be a heavy task for the Starfleet Engineers Corps (Core). The Federation Starfleet wanted a new range of starships, with the idea of a Multi-Mission Exploration starship coming up top. Therefore, the Vesta-class starship would be created. Entering service in 2380, the ship class would be a test bed for several experimental technologies.
