'Steel City' is a documentary covering the closure of BHP's Newcastle Steelworks. Includes individual stories from a broad range of employees, including the media involvement and their scrutiny of the closure and BHP's response to it. Includes the impact of BHP on Newcastle's history. Several employees in particular are followed, including Greg Cameron, the public relations manager, as well as employees Aubrey Brooks, roll shop manager, Peter, a steelmaker, Jack Thompson, a general hand and several of the canteen staff and many others. The documentary starts a few months before closure and covers the emotional rollercoaster of employees right up to closure. Includes the very last bloom produced at the plant. Includes some historical footage and a farewell speech by Lance Hockridge, the long products division manager at closure.
