Advanced consisting is a great way to operate multiple locomotives on your model railroad using a single throttle. It allows you to pre-program each locomotive so that it only responds to those function commands that you want. However it does take a bit more advance planning and work before you set up an advanced consist. It is also better for making up permanent consists than universal consists which are made and broken up on a regular basis. In this video I'll show you how to calculate the CV values required for advanced consists, how to program them, and how to later break a locomotive out of the consist.
