Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Although he’s been hailed as one of modern progressive rock’s geniuses, Steven Wilson aspires to cast a much wider net than any one genre. While Porcupine Tree are perhaps the best known of his many bands and projects, his solo career under his own name has enjoyed an equal recognition throughout eight albums.  In our latest interview with Wilson, we explore his fascinating new project The Overview, which features two long-form tracks with a sci-fi theme. This video interview includes many details about the writing process, including his collaboration with fellow lyricist Andy Partridge, and the other musicians who helped create the album, including Adam Holzman’s son, Russell Holzman, on drums.  We also delve into more esoteric questions about the limitless nature of the universe and the possibility of extraterrestrial life, as well as more terrestrial questions like why Wilson doesn’t take many guitar solos himself anymore, or if he’d ever consider playing at a festival like Cruise to the Edge. We also discuss his recent visit to the Atacama Desert in Chile, his recent remastering work with Pink Floyd, possible collaborations with Ninet Tayeb or Roland Orzabal, and whether Porcupine Tree is in a state of Closure or Continuation.
