Stick Welding with 7018 Home Improvement Project. This week I needed to install a metal post so we could finish up our deck railing project. The post needed to be installed into a concrete step. I could have purchased the post at our home center for nearly $100 but I decided to build it from scrap metal that I got for free. I used 3/8" plate for the base plate and schedule 40 iron pipe for the post. I welded it using 120 amps DC electrode positive (although I accidentally said DC negative in the video). I used a lot of tools for this simple build.
