In this video we look at construction in Stockport, including proposals for residential buildings to be built right next to the historic Grade 2 star railway viaduct that will be considerably taller than its height, blocking views of it from the west.

The viaduct already has 'competitors' which diminish the views both of and from the historic structure, which is Grade 2 star listed. I compare its significance to that of St Paul's Cathedral in London, which has protected views from certain angles.
The railway viaduct is the symbol of Stockport, used on many logos and depicted in art by both schoolchildren and famous artists, such as LS Lowry and Helen Clapcott. I went to see her inspiring exhibition at Stockport Art Gallery, featuring many views of Stockport railway viaduct.
