Stonebwoy is an internationally successful musician from Ghana. His roots lie in rap, and he is now best known as a reggae and dancehall artist.
Stonebwoy aka Livingstone Etse Satekla is one of the most famous reggae and dancehall artists from Ghana. Born in Ashaiman, not far from Accra, he began making music as a child.
From his high school days, he performs as a rapper under the name Stonebwoy. In a popular Ghanaian rap competition, he prevails against several other rappers and thus achieves a certain popularity in the scene.
His rap battles and musical style attract the attention of Ghanaian dancehall star Samini, who signs Stonebwoy to his record label Samini Music. Stonebwoy's first hit single "Climax" with Samini is released there, followed shortly afterwards by the track "Ghetto Love" with Irene Logan.
In 2012, he released his debut album "Grade 1 Album" on his own label, Burniton Music Group. Stonebwoy often sings in Jamaican patois (patwa or patwah) and is usually referred to as a "versatile rapper" due to his different musical styles.
His second album "Necessary Evil" receives three Ghana Music Awards with 6 nominations. At the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015, he was named Artist of the Year.
Stonebwoy is also internationally successful: his albums are always high up in the reggae billboard charts, and several of his collaborations have been nominated for Grammys.
