One thing every Sawyer has in common is that they want to saw beautiful lumber. If you own a sawmill and you've been cutting for any length of time you likely have had a wee bit of downtime due to maintenance or mechanical issues. One such issue I encounter from time to time is the sawmill blade falling off the bandwheels. If you haven't experienced this just give it some time and you'll find out quickly that the startling sound of a loud "bang" is the sound of the saw blade falling off. Although this seems like it could be nothing more than a minor inconvenience, this is no further from the truth. When the blade falls off the band wheels it scratches your sawmill housing quite badly in addition to dulling up your saw blade. That is the best case scenario. In the worst case scenario the blade gets kinked and you're out the money for a new one. At $30 CDN, that adds up quickly. Be sure to see how I keep my saw blades from falling off the band wheels on today's episode. Hopefully this keeps everyone up and running and making that nice fluffy saw dust. Here we go!
