Left high and dry by the River Tees, we take a look at the impressive remains of the Roman Bridge at Piercebridge. It's actually the second bridge built by the Romans, in order to carry Roman Dere Street over the river, and there are interesting signs of the efforts made to combat the movements of the Tees back in the days of Roman Britain.
As well as the Roman bridge, there are also remains to be seen of the Roman fort and traces of the Vicus too.
We're using a 1970s guide book too - just to add to the fun.
