This was it.
After all the losses, all the grind, all the ridiculous distractions—Ed had finally made it to the final boss fight.
Standing between him and Master Rank was none other than Johann Wolfgang and his Erlking.
Ed wasn’t even sure how this happened. One moment, he was in a regular ranked queue; the next, he was teleported to some gothic battlefield, with Johann looming over him like a final boss in a FromSoftware game. The air was thick with orchestral music, the screen darkened, and a single ominous voice whispered:
"Do you hear him? The Erlking calls."
Falke, watching from the sidelines, sighed. "Great. Now he's fighting poetry."
Johann was perfectly composed, his every movement calculated, his every parry a verse in an unwritten epic. And his Erlking? That thing moved like it had rollback in real life—glitching, phasing, appearing behind Ed before he even realized it. This wasn't just a fight. This was a nightmare.
Ed gritted his teeth. He hadn’t come this far to get gatekept by a dead German poet. No, he was going to win. He just had to focus, adapt, and not let the creeping fear of the Erlking's whispers mess with his execution.
If he could defeat this, he would finally achieve the goal he set out for.
Master Rank was within reach.
The only question was—could he withstand the final stanza?
