In this episode of The Nachiket Bhatia Show, we have Dr. Shivin Chaudhary in conversation with Dr. Nachiket Bhatia.
Dr. Shivin has cleared UPSC in 2022 with AIR 297, and he was inducted as an IRS officer in the Income Tax Department of the Government of India. Before that, he completed his MBBS from the top medical college, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC, New Delhi).
He left the IRS to pursue teaching as a full-time profession. He runs a YouTube channel "Clarity for UPSC by Dr. Shivin," where he shares study techniques, resources, and advice for UPSC aspirants.
In this episode, he shared his personal journey and how he achieved the milestone of clearing UPSC. Born in Hisar, Haryana, Dr. Chaudhary resided in Gurgaon for most of his life. Influenced by his parents, who come from a medical background, Dr. Shivin’s interest in biology led him to pursue MBBS, securing AIR 70 in AIPMT and excelling in multiple entrance exams such as JIPMER, Manipal, AIIMS, Indraprastha, and eventually joining Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi (MAMC).
Though he did not enjoy studying medicine, he decided to prepare for UPSC and achieved an AIR 297 rank. With the privilege of his background and the support of his parents, he was able to make the challenging decision to switch careers from MBBS to civil services and has since become one of the most loved UPSC educator.
Dr. Shivin Chaudhary also shared his UPSC preparation strategy, his experience of the UPSC interview. He discussed the importance of having a Plan B and how having a backup plan can reduce stress and anxiety.
