SUPERB 3 WAINWRIGHT WALK 👉 More LAKE DISTRICT nearby walks https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLybjgrNUqatXnzZOf7kGsA3EfUPa_SlEA Route: https://explore.osmaps.com/route/25206833/glaramara?lat=54.483544&lon=-3.202079&zoom=12.6399&style=Leisure&type=2d Information: We start today’s walk at Seathwaite Farm and for the first section follow The Corridor Route which leads to Scafell Pike. Heading through the farm and along the valley floor we walk along Grains Gill. When we reach Stockley Bridge we take our first ascent passing Taylor Gill Force on our right. After the path flattens out we branch off The Corridor Route and head up to our first Wainwright of the day Seathwaite Fell. After admiring the views we work our way along the fell past a few small tarns before reaching Sprinkling Tarn. Heading left, we pass under the shadow of Geat End, which is another Wainwright, and follow the path to the left where we reach the summit of Allen Crags. Continuing a the relatively straight run to High House Tarn we get fantastic views over to Great Gable on our left and Langstrath Valley to our right. Eventually we reach Glaramara’s summit which has commanding views over the Borrowdale Fells. At this point, we begin our descent. The name Glaramara comes from ancient Norse and means “Hill with the mountain hut by a chasm”. As the name suggests, there is a steep down waiting for us. Upon leaving the summit we cross over a grassy section to make our way towards the main descent. The main down is around 600m and there are many surfaces from grass, to stoney path, to rock. It’s definitely worth taking your time here and many choose to come up this way. I had a great time on this walk, and 10km might not seem too long, but the testing ascents and descents let you know it’s been a big day out. This really is a stunning Glaramara hike that will leave you breathless in more ways than one. I hope you enjoyed the video!
