Talk Description- Subway Stories (subwaystories.nyc) is a data visualization and journalistic work that uses the MTA's open data to illustrate the transit patterns that animate New York City. Developed for the inaugural MTA Open Data Challenge, the project was honored as the Most Creative entry by the MTA and showcased at the New York Transit Museum.

Bio- Jediah Katz is a senior software engineer at Figma who has worked on prototyping tools, video features, and evaluating AI applications. Previously, he was a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, creating and teaching a course on operations research and constraint programming. His interest in transit was sparked by his upbringing in Yorkville, Manhattan, from years commuting to school on the 4/5/6 trains and living above Second Avenue Subway construction. He's also an avid CitiBiker.
Bio- Marc Zitelli is a data analyst who previously worked as a political consultant. He has worked on campaigns ranging from local to national in scale and he specialized in using data analysis to predict voting behavior. He is passionate about storytelling as a way to humanize data and make it more accessible. He enjoys learning new coding languages and spends his free time outside with his dog, Franklin.
