➡️ ➡️ This video is from 3-19-25. Video opens with M15 arriving at the nest tree. F23 flies in shortly after with a stick for the nest. M15 takes her stick and places it. Both aerate the nest, then perch on the attic for several minutes before leaving. They appear to me to be switching to end of season behavior, spending less time in the nest pasture on most days, while still checking in on their nest tree. They have slowed their nest building efforts, and it does not appear they will be trying for a second clutch. We will have to watch and see what they do. Later, M15 is on the treetop branch. A Turkey Vulture is on the sandy area by the church fence. ID by size, wing underside, flight in, ground movement, behavior. A Turkey Vulture has very different movement on the ground than an eagle or Black Vulture. M15 flies low and fast toward the vulture, who flies into the church yard. M15 lands close, and both remain in that area. The vulture is moving around M15. The behaviors indicate M15 flew down and took the food the vulture had found. Eagles are dominant over vultures. They will eat together; however, if the food is of size the eagle can carry it away, the eagle will do so to keep all the food for themself. That is what M15 does. He flies to the office oak with the food, carrying the food in his feet. I am not sure what the food is. After eating, M15 gets sips at the pond, then perches on the U branch watching over the territory. M15 leaves to roost before dark. Additional details in the stamps below, if interested.
