Taking a look at my new go-to 35mm lens for Leica m mount. The Thypoch Simera 35mm f1.4 for m-mount offers incredible value and versatility with its impressive image quality, focal length, and fast aperture. It can be had for roughly the same price as a used Voigtlander 35mm f2, but offers a 1.4 aperture. Usability leaves a bit to be desired for me as I much prefer crescent shaped focus tabs and durability is yet to be seen though I have had no problems thus far. I do love the rendering of the images. It is a very safe image, leaning towards a modern look but does not seem overly clinical. Bokeh is solid and the falloff is natural. Flaring is well contained and difficult to produce in my opinion. If critical focus is achieved, incredibly sharp results.
Good image for video, but horrible choice for video in my opinion. Focus breathing is quite apparent and ergonomics are not ideal.
