The Uilleann Pipes are the beautiful spirited instruments of Ireland with a reputation for difficulty. As a Great Highland Bagpiper, then a smallpiper (both mouth blown and bellows) I wanted to use my abilities to take on the Uilleanns. These are not common or inexpensive, and I was nervous that it would be too challenging and frustrating. Would I regret this? After two months I had 4 big learnings. If you have any interest in joining the remarkable uilleann world I'd watch this video before spending money and time, and when you get to the end you can see what an average piper sounds like after two months!
