This time the project definitely offered an unexpected puzzle & a little surprise for me! Here is the next Tamiya TT-02B upgrade: A Fastrax adjustable metal motor mount from EuroRC for the Tamiya TT-02 Chassis and the Tamiya TT-02B RC Car Buggy: the Tamiya Neo Scorcher, Tamiya Plasma Edge II and Tamiya Dual Ridge.

THE BENEFITS of the UPGRADE:
The benefits of the new motor mount are worth to consider: In theory it should be more durable and stable, it should be more efficient at dissipating the heat from your motor (arguably the plastic protector isn't really needed anymore) and you can quickly and easily set your own mesh without having to worry about all the pre-settings from the Tamiya stock motor mount. And well, as a bonus, in my humble opinion, it just looks much much better.
THE PUZZLE:
The aluminium spacer provided in the package caused a puzzle though. I am sure the explanation is simple (if you have it, please provide it in the comment section), but it didn't seem to fit anywhere on the motor mount. Much too large for the slots and holes (!?). From what I have seen and experienced previously, these spaces are for the screw and slider/slot that is adjusting the mesh. But yeah, didn't fit there.
If you have the solution I would love to hear it. I am sure the explanation is simple, and as it has happened before, I will perhaps laugh a little (of why I didn't think about that) and learn a lot. I always appreciate some help.
In the video I tried to use another smaller Tamiya spacer of my own, that fit, but obviously I discovered that the plastic cover doesn't allow for any spacer at all. Of course it can be added to the backside, up against the motor (if that makes sense), but I decided to ditch it, as it isn't part of the package anyways.
THE SURPSISE:
Ohh, yeah. And to display my incompetence even more, I found out that the stock motor had the 'torque tuned' sticker on it hidden underneath. First time I've seen that motor in an XB (RTR) Tamiya model, and when initially removing the 'plastic cooler' to inspect it, I just quickly assumed it was an ordinary silver can, when I didn't see the sticker.
Well then, my first GPS speed tests (watch Part 1) with this one seems not to be of a 'stock 27T silver can' but of the Torque Tuned silver can instead. But it's all good, as I think all the Tamiya TT02B assembly kit releases is provided with the torque tuned motor and I remember being a little disappointed myself, when unboxing this XB model and seeing the motor, which I assumed was an ordinary silver can. Next time I think I will check more thoroughly. And again, this is another good example of the benefits of the assembly kit versions: One will actually know for sure what parts and motors that where used in the build.
