A Tangle-free Baitfish!? This pattern comes close!
For seatrout fishing at the coast, I usually have some baitfish patterns in my box - but I have the problem that they often tend to tangle around the hook bend. Of course, ot helps if you can tie on a short-shank hook or use a lot of UV resin. But on a longer shank, you have more opportunities to make the body and shape you want.
My solution is this pattern! The longer fibers are only tied on top of the hookshank, which lowers the tangling significantly! It's tied in segments, and this gives you so many ways to vary the colors and profile of the fly.
Try it out yourself—save it for your own fly tying💾
