Video Not Working? Fix It Now

This is our final week talking about taste!! With the famous combination of bitter and salty. It was a challenge to find a snack that used these to that didn't include chocolate, but after some research we found candied citrus slices. Join us as we try a new recipe and a few quick experiments with salt. -Candied Citrus Peels Peels from 3-4 oranges sliced in 8ths or smaller 1/2 orange juice 1 t. Vanila 1/4 C. Maple syrup 1/4 C. Table sugar for coating 1. Place orange peels in a pot with salted water and boil for 10 min. Strain water and repeat process 2 more times. 2. In the same pot add orange juice, vanilla and maple syrup and bring to a simmer. Add cooked orange peels and gently stir to coat. Allow to simmer for 25-30 min or until sticky. 3. Place slices on a rack and allow to dry for 1 hour. 4. In a bowl place sugar and add peels. Shake to coat peels and serve. Experiment 1 2 Ice cubes Yarn Salt Place the yarn on top of a cube of ice sprinkle with salt and place the second ice cube on top wait about 1 min and then try lift the yarn. The ice should stick. The salt allows the ice to melt but causes it to refreeze when in contact to the yarn. Experiment 2 ballon salt pepper On a plate mix together the salt and pepper. Using the ballon create a static charge and hover over the salt and pepper mixture. Both the salt and pepper are attracted to the static however pepper is light in weight than salt so it should attach to the ballon. Experiment 3 Coins Salt warm water In a container mix together salt and water until dissolved. Place your coins inside. If left for a short amount of time the coins may appear to look shinier. But if you leave the coins in the solution oven night they will start to break down and corrode.
